FORMER MAID NABBED FOR ROBBERY
A RUWA woman was on Wednesday brought to court charged with robbery after she reportedly plotted a break in at her former employers’ Highlands home, getting away with a safe containing US$30 500.
The suspect, Cecelia Makanjera, and her alleged accomplice who is believed to be her boyfriend Forever Muziri, were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga.
They were remanded in custody to January 6.
Allegations are that on December 18 at around 11:20pm, the two connived to rob the complainants
- a Harare couple, Daisy Chavhunduka and Masiya Madzima.
Makanjera, who is a former maid to the couple, allegedly provided information to Muziri on where the couple kept money and he acted on that information with three other accomplices, who are still at large, and went to the couple’s home where they introduced themselves to the new maid as police officers.
They allegedly told the new maid that they were investigating a criminal offence and were looking for the complainants and she allowed them into the house where they threatened to harm her while demanding to be shown the couple’s bedroom.
They reportedly then took away a safe with US$30 500 before leaving the scene and on December 20, police received information that the two were behind the robbery leading to their arrest.
The duo led to the recovery of their getaway vehicle; a blue Honda Fit.
Sabastian Mutizirwa appeared for the State.
