STAY HOME PLEASE

-

The announcement of a 30- day level 4 lockdown to contain the Covid-19 situation, could not have come at a better time.

Our behavior over the festive period has been sad and conducive for the spread of Covid-19.

People have been flocking into the CBD in Harare and there were queues at supermarkets and other retail outlets.

Traffic had increased and most parking bays were occupied, as if there is no lockdown.

This is dangerous.

People are not really taking President Mnangagwa’s advice seriously when he urged the citizens of Zimbabwe to act like they have the virus.

People must know that the President is not doing this for himself. These measures are there for your own good as a person who wants to avoid Covid-19.

Ironically we were more afraid of Covid-19 when a handful of people in the country had the virus than we are now when as many as 300 cases are recorded per day.

Travelling in or around the country is discouraged. People must take this as law as good practice from Vice President Chiwenga.

Stay at home and ensure that you and your family are safe. It is that simple. Do not visit, whether it’s your parents, friends or siblings.

There shall be no gatherings around bars, nightclubs, beerhalls, movie houses, swimming pools, gymnasiums and sporting activities. Again take that as law, a law that has been made to protect us all from Covid-19.

Even in your home environments, stop gathering, whether you are gathering as four people or 10. Do not wait for a new directive to reduce the number of people allowed to gather.

Now is not the time to experiment. Take drastic personal measures on your own. Do not wait for the President to announce these.

And please keep the President’s words in mind.

He said he wants all of us to be acting as if we already have the virus.

“Would you want to infect your friends? Would you want to infect your families? Would you want to infect your countrymen? Of course not. So keep your distancetwo meters away from each other. Don’t touch your face. Again…. Wash your hands. Stay at home!”

Following this wise counsel might as well be the difference between containing Covid-19 and having hordes of victims and deaths in the country.
