CATCHING THEM YOUNG! …Miss Pre-Teen crowned
“Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it”.
This sums up the just ended Miss Pre-Teen Zimbabwe where 17 contestants were groomed to showcase their abilities in the wake of Covid-19 lockdown.
The second edition of the pageant saw young girls from one to 12 years being groomed on different aspects of life including taking care of the environment as well as using the Codvid-19 induced lockdown.
Running under the theme “Rebuilding a cleaner and safer environment in the wake of Covid-19”, it proved that children need to be trained in the good manner.
MISS PRE-TEEN QUEEN
Going into the finals, the pageant had special awards including best charity work, neatest model, Miss Pre-Teen intellect, most disciplined model, top model, sports winner, most improved, super model, Miss Pre-Teen diva among others.
The 17 battled for the main titles through different showcasing including professional imitations and night wear. Smiles, confidence, presentations, walking also made up the marks to the winners.
Blessed Guzha was crowned Miss Pre-Teen Senior while Kayla Gresof was Miss Pre-Teen Junior.
Miss Pre-Teen Zim People’s Choice, Anisha Gumunyu; Miss Pre-Teen Junior, Makanaka Phiri; Second Runner Up to Miss Pre-Teen, Gabriela Mauwa; First Princess Junior, Kupakwase Chibika; and First Princess for the seniors Natalie Sadziwa.
Director of pageant, Mary Mundeya said the initiative is aimed at instilling confidence in young girls and empowering them to unleash purposeful lives at a tender age, bringing to life the adage that says ‘catch them young’.
“Miss Teen Zimbabwe is a pageant based on the environmental awareness issues. I thought it’s important that we instill the culture of being environmental cautious from a tender age and it not only helps individual that would have imparted with that level of understanding.
“We also do peer-to-peer impartation whether at school or anywhere and they also share information with their families therefore the web growing.”

Miss-Pre-Teen pageant has been hailed for empowering young children to become aware of environmental issues.
“We have received a major boost with corporates coming on board to support the initiative.
“The pageant was birthed from an environmental perspective and catching them young is ideal. And our target age is between the ages one to 12,” said Mary.

GUEST OF HONOUR
Guest of honour, Tinotenda Jakarasi, hailed the initiative and urged girls to keep improving their skills.
“The girls are confident, and don’t allow anyone to demoralise you, you are special. I have seen much confidence and eloquence in these girls.
“Keep doing this great initiative, and continue to shine as girls.”
The panel of judges include, Eugene Zimbudzi, Ashley Rutsvara, Latwell Nyangu, Tania Tatenda Aaron (chief judge), Rumbidzai Musunga and guest of honour being Tinotenda Jakarasi.
