LOCKDOWN ENFORCEMENT STARTS
Police will, from today, effect measures to enforce level 5 lockdown in the country.
Travel restrictions will be strictly enforced with people only allowed free movement within a small radius of their resi-dence and only when doing so to buy food and other necessities like medication.
Any other movement beyond a five kilometer radius would require exemption letters from the Minis-try of Industry and Commerce.
“Members of the public, entities in the essential services sector such as food distribution and retailers, mining, com-munication and telecommunication, agricultural production, security companies and companies as pronounced by the Government and the media are advised that after consultations with the Covid-19 Ministerial Task Force, movement and exemption letters will now be issued by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. May the relevant institutions and companies be guided accordingly,” said Assistant Commissioner and Senior Staff Officer (Press, Public and Int. Rela-tions) to the Commissioner General of Police, Paul Nyathi.
Anyone found failing to practice social distancing, improperly wearing or not wearing a facemask will be arrested.
Public transport operators have also been urged to adhere to Government Covid-19 guidelines and police in Bulawayo have already arrested those found wanting.

Police warned members of the public against taking COVID-19 lightly & breaking the laws put in place to safeguard health and safety.
