Four wanted for unlawful entry, theft

FOUR people are wanted by police for a spate of unlawful entry and theft cases in various suburbs in Harare.

Spicer Takawira, 28, last known address in Engineerin­g, Highfield; Godwin Kusikwenyu, 34, last known address in Kuwadzana, Harare; one Chamu and Con are wanted by Braeside police Criminal Investigat­ion Department following the arrest of Leo Mandaza, 40, of Kuwadzana Extension who has since appeared in court and has been remanded in custody.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Criminal Investigat­ions Department CID spokespers­on Detective Inspector Portia Chinho confirmed the list saying the arrest of Mandaza led to the recovery of some of the property that included car batteries.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for informatio­n that may lead to the arrest of four outstandin­g suspects for a spate of unlawful entry and theft cases,” said Det Insp Chinho.

“Mandaza is facing seven counts of unlawful entry into premises and theft.

“The suspect and his four accomplice­s who are still at large were targeting homes in and around Highfield, Glen Norah and Workington industrial area in Harare.

“In one of the cases, the suspects pounced on one of the leading service stations in Glen Norah, Harare.

“They forced open the storeroom door using an unknown object and gained entry and stole various motor vehicle spare parts and oils.

“The complainan­t discovered the offence the following morning and filed a report with the police.

“Upon arrest, the suspect led detectives to the recovery of some of the property which includes car batteries.

“He has since appeared in court and was remanded in custody,” said Det Insp Chinho.

In a related matter, Tafadzwa Chimupini, 18, of Stoneridge Park, Waterfalls, Harare who had caused sleepless nights to Stoneridge residents was convicted and sentenced to 54 months in prison for a spate of unlawful entry and theft cases.

Chimupini would target houses left unattended during the day and in one of the cases he went to the complainan­t’s house during his absence.

Chimupini reportedly forced open the kitchen door using an unknown object and gained entry into the house where he stole various household properties which included a 52 inch LG plasma.

Det Insp Chinho said detectives from CID Braeside received informatio­n from a reliable source that Chimupini was behind the commission of the crimes.

Investigat­ions carried out led to his arrest and recovery of the stolen property.
