TANGAI BHAWA CHANTER REFLECTS ON COVID-19 CHALLENGES

- Tafadzwa Chigandiwa

ZIM dancehall artiste and Tangai Bhawa hitmaker, Fidel Country Boy, is set to release another single titled Moyo Wenyu Officer.

He said the single narrates challenges faced by people during the Covid-19 induced lockdown.

Speaking to H-Metro, the chanter said the new track will be released anytime this week.

“I am back again with a new track titled, Moyo Wenyu officer. The track will be released anytime this week, maybe before Wednesday,” he said.

Fidel Country Boy described the track as a reflection of hardships that are faced by citizens during the country’s strict Covid-19 lockdown and how police officers are arresting them.

He said that the track is about a police officer who arrested someone without a face mask in public, defying World Health Organisation (WHO) and Government regulations.

However, the Norton based artiste explained the motive behind the song.

He said the gist of the song is on the manner police officers arrest people who are facing hunger and try to hustle during the lockdown in order to earn a living.

“The track is about a police officer who arrested someone without a face mask, as the person claimed that he forgot it at home. The officer interrogates him on why he didn’t forget his underwear.

“The officer also asks whether he forgot it or he deliberately left it at home. The one arrested asks for forgiveness, begs to be released explaining that he is hustling to fend for the family,” Fidel revealed.

Fidel’s most popular track Tangai Bhawa was produced by Mushroom Studios and produced by DJ Tamuka.

However, the talented artiste added that his new track Moyo Wenyu Officer will also be recorded at Mushroom studios in Harare, though this time it will be produced by Pablo.

“I am a recording artiste and song writer working under Mushroom media owned by DJ Tamuka. Most people know me through my popular track Tangai Bhawa which was produced by DJ Tamuka, though I started my music career in 2010.

“This time my new track will be produced by Pablo. We work together at Mushroom Studios and I respect DJ Tamuka he is like a brother to me,” he said.

Fidel also expressed grief towards the music industry indicating that the coronavirus pandemic has hithard their trade leaving many artistes without funds to record.

“Things are difficult for us as artistes because we are not holding any shows and people can’t afford to buy our music as they are also in the same situation, they don’t have money,” the Norton based artiste said.
