SULU SALUTES HERO ZIMONDI
SULUMAN CHIMBETU has saluted former Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) Commissioner-General, Retired Major Paradzai Zimondi for changing the face of correctional facilities around the country.
Zimondi succumbed to Covid-19 and was declared a national hero.
He will best be remembered for the role he played in rehabilitating inmates using the 38-year-old artiste as an ambassador.
Sulu, who is serving ZPCS as its ambassador where he assumed the rank of Assistant Commissioner, said Zimondi’s legacy will be cherished for years.
“I have been working closely with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services for five years doing charity work and he only recommended I become an ambassador in 2018.
“Comm-Gen Zimondi was a humble and yet strict person who wanted things done by the book and he always wanted the best for everybody.
“The late correctional services chief changed the face of ZPCS as a place where prisoners are rehabilitated and prepared for life after serving their terms,” he said.
Asked what he learnt from the late Zimondi, the Orchestra Dendera Kings boss explained:
“To be honest I have learnt that discipline pays and one can only achieve their goals if they are disciplined.
“Despite my strong military background where discipline is a must, I can safely say I managed to further equip my credentials under the late boss’ directorship.
“He also made me feel at home and being part of their family, I am indebted to him.
“To his family, relatives and associates, I urge them to salute the late general and emulate the good work he did in his lifetime.”
Sulu has been hailed for his commitment and impact ever since he assumed the role of ZPCS ambassador by giving them counselling and mentorship lessons.
