RAS PREACHER TARGETS RAW TALENT

- Entertainment Reporter

MASHONALAND WEST-BASED music producer Ras Preacher, real name Munyaradzi Mazere, has embarked on an initiative to identify and promote talent from his province.

Ras Preacher runs a record label — Studioline Entertainment — in Kariba, Chinhoyi and Karoi.

He said he has identified talent in different communities and is out to give them a platform to fulfil their dreams.

Ras Preacher said his wish is to see all artistes and producers’ works getting equal opportunity on national radio stations.

“There is a lot of talent out there which I think needs to be exposed. Those are some of the things that we will be focusing on as Studioline Entertainment going forward. We have studios in Chinhoyi, Kariba and Karoi and we are open to artistes across all genres. People who want to work with us can get in touch with us on Ras Preacher on Facebook and Instagram,” he said.

Having worked with a number of top Zim Dancehall artistes last year, Ras Preacher was named the best producer in Mashonaland West on Nyami Nyami FM.

“I had the opportunity to work with big names in the arts industry like Jah Master, Soul Jah Love, Maffcat, Elder Micho (S.A), Bafana Basetso (Botswana), Shumba Ratsega (Botswana) and

Shenky Sugar (ZAM) just to mention a few.

“With the little I have achieved so far; I think I have done enough as one of the youngest producers in Zimbabwe. I have managed to produce hit songs among them Mohammed Wasulula by Gudbuay which came out number 6 on Nyami Nyami top 50 count down,” he said.

He added: “On behalf of the musicians I want to urge the fans to keep on supporting both us as we are growing stronger by the day and it’s our hope that our radio stations around the country will one day give the equivalent airspace to all the artistes regardless of the province, district or language for example here in Kariba there are a lot of talented musicians with potential to compete at national level or beyond that but nowhere to showcase their talent.

“I also want also to give hope to the artistes and the entire nation that one day this Covid-19 and lockdown will be things of the past and to achieve that let us all mask up and exercise maximum hygiene.”

Ras Preacher hailed people who have been rallying behind him. “I want to thank my elder brothers Samuel, Edmore and Boss Munya for supporting me in all weather.

“I also want to thank my sponsor Kelvin Chikwata, he is the man behind all the success when it comes to Studioline and also Ernest Chinyamamupinyi.”
