- Latwell Nyangu

WOMEN under the support group “Mom Talk” have forged more than 40 alliances to address challenges that affect women countrywide during the Covid-19 induced lockdown.

To date, the support group has expanded to 40 other groups which deal with different challenges affecting women.

The group’s founder, Chiedza Mandinika, in an interview with H-Metro said the idea was to impart skills to women.

“We have started platforms that help women realise their worth as individuals and help them realize their potential.

“We created platforms such as Mom Talk Mikoto and Business Ideas where women get to share business ideas and different items for resale at wholesale prices.

“These platforms have equipped ladies, including single moms, with the skills they need and moral support necessary to start their own successful businesses during this Covid-19 pandemic.

“We now have platforms such as Mom Talk Business which women can do their buying and selling and also business network. Mom Talk Prayer empowers women on a spiritual level to ignite their spiritual flames with the help of admins. [sic]

“We also have a Single Moms Club where women get to talk about the struggles they face as single mothers including helping each other deal with the stigma that come with being single mothers in our society.”

“We are also empowering women through Mom Talk Revenge Body and we get help from a certified personal trainer, Coach TK.

“We get to help women work on their bodies post-delivery since most women lose their confidence after giving birth due to the body changes that come with pregnancy and childbirth

“Mom Talk Mommies Academics help to motivate each other to go back to school, stay in school and finish their respective academic endeavours.

“We have Mom Talk Angel Care on which we help each other to donate items we no longer need to other Mom Talk Mommies who need those items like baby wear, accessories and preparation for a new born.”

She said they were hoping to do more if they get funding for their respective communities such as old people and children’s homes.

“The best part is that these are all online platforms on which women get to talk about everything they are dealing with in their lives.

“We also have a ‘which is’ — a platform that helps empower women with home schooling skills which are essential during this lockdown,” said Chiedza.

Among other groups there are, Mom Home Decor and Garden, Mom Talk Cooking, Mom Talk Kids and Academics, Mom Talk Marriage Talk, Mom Talk House Hunting and House Help Hunting, Mom Talk Job Vacancies on which mothers get to share vacancies in their respective fields and help other women get those jobs.
