MUSKWE IN DECENT DISPLAY

-

WARRIORS striker Admiral Muskwe put up a decent display in a tough FA Cup fourth round match against Premier League heavyweights, Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

Muskwe called Tottenham goalkeeper Joe Hart to action and went on to put a good display as his side, Wycombe Wanderers, took the lead and were level 1-1 from just before the break to final four minutes.

Tottenham scored three goals between the 86th minute and final whistle to win 4-1.

Muskwe was rated among the best performers as they forced Jose Mourinho to make late tactical changes to get a win in the final four minutes of the game.

It was his second appearance in the tournament for the Championship side since arriving from Leicester City on loan this month.

Muskwe was deployed upfront on the right side in a 4-4-3 formation and got a rating of six in the 73 minutes he was on the pitch.

The 22-year was denied his dream goal by Hart early into match, his only attempt at goal though he managed to keep the Spurs defenders on toes.

The Zimbabwe international’s performance rate was over 50 percent, completing six of the attempted 12 passes.

Muskwe won four of his five duels and had two successful tackles.

The Chairboys were the first to find the back of the net through Fred Onyednma in the 26th minute before Gareth Bale scored on the stroke of halftime.

Wycombe were close to force extra time before Mourinho brought on big names to snatch a big win.

A flurry of late goals — two from substitute Tanguy Ndombele and another from Harry Winks — saw Mourinho’s side proceed to the next stage of competition.

The interesting fact was Jose Mourinho had to turn to his big guns including Harry Kane,

Son Heung-min and Ndombele to secure the victory.

His relieved celebrations after the match said it all.

“If it goes to extra-time, it would be bad for both teams,” Mourinho said after the match.

Wycombe coach Gareth Ainsworth said they want to use their performance as motivation going forward.

“I am flattered they had to put some big names on to get in front.

“We have only trained one day in the last eight, that has hampered things, missing a couple of key players but no excuses — for 85 minutes we were well in the game, the third and fourth goals kill us. We go again, it’s not going to be the FA Cup but I am determined to stay in the Championship,” he said.
