KARURU GOAL NOT ENOUGH
BLACK LEOPARDS co-interim coach Lehlohonolo Seema questioned the team’s defending for the late Mamelodi Sundowns goal on Wednesday evening.
Ovidy Karuru broke the deadlock for Lidoda Duvha just a minute from the break and immediately after Peter Shalulile equalised, Sundowns were reduced to ten men in the 66th minute after Mothobi Mvala was sent off. However, Shalulile netted the winner for the Brazilians deep in stoppage time and Seema was left frustrated with his charges for not at least coming away with a point.
“The 90 minutes, exactly what I was worried about it happened at the end. We knew that they have pace upfront, they’ll always need one ball over the top or one ball on the sides,” the former Chippa United coach told SuperSport TV.
“They’ll have a cross and have people that are capable of finishing because those three that they have upfront, they are quick and are able to finish.
“And when the game went on and we started missing chances the way we were missing chances, credit must also go to Denis Onyango [Sundowns goalkeeper], you can see his experience came through.
“On our side where was the experience when we conceded a goal in the dying minutes like that? I don’t even want to talk about one man down because I think after they went one man down, we created a number of chances that could have allowed us to win the game.
“Okay we did not take the chances but I told them if you cannot win this game today let us not lose this game. We went and concede like that, I think it was one guy and against four guys in our box, it’s very disappointing.
“But we’ll have to work with these guys, pick them up. We’re playing another game on Saturday and we have to make sure we get the points, we cannot be donating points like this.” —Kick Off.
