REIGNING champions FC Platinum are on the verge of re-signing goalkeeper Wallace Magalane from CAPS United as they strengthen their squad for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Magalane left Platinum for
Makepekepe in January last year.
However, the 27-year old goalkeeper did not play any competitive match due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although no comment could be obtained from United and Magalane, a close source said the goalkeeper was on his way back to his former paymasters.
“Yes, Wallace arrived in Zvishavane at the weekend (Saturday) evening, he is back at FC Platinum. The player also joined the rest of the squad (Sunday) for the
heart test medicals that were conducted at Gweru General Hospital,” said the source.
FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo, said no deal has materialised yet between Platinum and Magalane.
She, however, acknowledged that the player is in Zvishavane and was part of the squad that went for medicals in Gweru.
“Nothing has been agreed yet, however he is currently in Zvishavane.
“All our players went for medicals in
Gweru, he was amongst them,” Chizondo said.
This means Magalane is set for a reunion with coach Norman Mapeza after he failed to secure a move to South African Premier Soccer League side, Chippa United.
Mapeza is beefing up his squad for the continental competition.
Last week, the miners added two more players, re-signing Donald Ngona from Tanzania and former Dynamos FC defender Blessing Moyo.
