ELEANA MAKOMBE SCALING NEW HEIGHTS

- Tendai Mapfumo

SHE has been around for a short time, three years to be specific.

In that time, songbird Eleana Makombe has already witnessed God’s elevation in her musical career.

Having started music only in 2017, the mother of two bagged her first gong at the recently-held USA Maranatha Awards for Best Collaboration Song for her track Tenda in which she features multi award-winning South African gospel musician Zaza Mokhethi.

“I am overwhelmed with joy and very excited to have won my first award as an upcoming gospel musician. All the glory goes to God,” said Makombe.

Added Makombe:

“It feels good to be recognised and appreciated, and I just want to thank the Maranatha Awards team USA for such an honour.

“I also want to acknowledge my producer Macdee Chidavaenzi, who is also a family friend as he has been instrumental in supporting my music journey both as a producer and mentor,” she said.

Makombe, who is also pursuing a degree in nursing at the University of Bedfordshire revealed that had it not been for outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic she would have recorded her debut live DVD this year.

Nonetheless, the singer, spurred by the award, says she will release more projects this year, highlighting that a new album is on the cards, a follow up to her debut offering The Lord’s Hands.

“I am going to release my second album titled Season of Grace this year. By the grace of God, we pray that we will be able to also have the live DVD recording project, which is currently on hold.

“We continue to pray for guidance in 2021; for God to connect us with the right people to work with and we will continue putting in the hard work,” she shared.

Besides her musical and nursing inclinations, the Kwekwe born and bred singer also has a finance background after attaining an accounting diploma with Bedford College UK.

She is currently the finance director in a family business she runs with her husband of nine years, Tinashe Makombe.
