TK: Briefly tell us how Kambo Boys was formed?

TN: Kambo Boys was formed in 2014 in Ipswich Town. The members are Simba Mupfudze and Tonde “Maheu” Nembaware.

From 2006 to 2013, we were in an acapella group of six guys. In 2014, we found ourselves in one place (Ipswich) since Simba had just moved to the town and this allowed us to see each other regularly.

Because of our passion for music, we would visit local studios frequently just to have fun. Things did not get really serious until 2016 when we bumped into Mono online.

TK: How did you manage to remain united?

TN: We have always worked as a team and are good friends, which enhances our working relationship. We play the same role be it composing or recording etc.

TK: Briefly give us your discography?

TN: Since the year 2016, we put out some of our work in a series of singles.

Our first rendition was Melo, which did get decent reception

and was the first ever sungura song to be played on trace Africa, MTV Base Africa and also other prestigious channels.

Due to the warm reception we got, we were encouraged to put out more content, comprising Sweet Larissa, which was our next project. We had fun working on this project and the video still stands as our best so far.

We got impressive feedback from our fans, which encouraged us to put out more of our work, we did Chihera, Merry Christmas

and Bhizi Pizzi.

To date, we have released five singles.

TK: Which local artistes would you like to collaborate with?

TN: Given a chance, we would like to collaborate with a lot of Zimbabwean artistes.

Everyone is on top of their game right now and almost all Zimbabwean artistes are putting a lot of effort to bring out the best music.

I feel all Zimbabwean artiste are doing very well at the moment and it will be an honour to collaborate with anyone who shares the same energy or vibe with us.

TK: What’s your take on the airplay you are getting back home?

TN: We have had some good airplay support from DJs in Zimbabwe. The support we have had so far is amazing and we are humbled.

We are still trying to grow our support online we are not yet there, but I believe eventually we will get there.

TK: Any memorable performance you have had so far?

TN: Our best experience was at a wedding in Poland. It was an honour, we had fun and it almost brought us to tears. We saw Polish people dancing to our sound and that was a moment we will not soon forget. TK: Any worst show or performance? TN: We haven’t had a bad moment whilst presenting as yet; can’t wait for one.

I feel like it will help us realise where we need to improve.

TK: Your message to your fans?

TN: To our fans we say stay tuned, we have our debut album dropping soon. We are really excited about our debut album and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Mono Mukundu put his signature on all songs, so you can imagine how it will be like.
