Lovers assaulted, robbed

POLICE are investigat­ing a case of robbery in which a man and his girlfriend were robbed of their belongings near Warren Hills Cemetery.

Harare Police spokespers­on Inspector Simon Chazovachi­i yesterday said Daniel Mutedzi (35) was with his girlfriend driving a Toyota Wish when his motor vehicle developed a mechanical fault along Bulawayo Road near Warren Hills turn off on February 2 at about 7.30pm when the incident happened.

“They locked all doors and closed all the windows and stayed inside the car.

“Three unknown male adults approached the car and one of them threw a brick which broke the driver’s window,” he said.

Insp Chazovachi­i said the accused people then forced Daniel and his girlfriend out of the car and searched them.

“The accused persons assaulted the two with fists all over their bodies and one of them produced a knife and threatened to kill the duo.

“The accused persons demanded car keys and cash and were given US$100, Samsung S20 Ultra, Itel cellphone and car keys,” he added.

He said the accused persons tore the boyfriend’s pair of trousers and tied his hands and drove away from the scene towards Kuwadzana.

“The girlfriend managed to untie the boyfriend and the two proceeded to ZRP Warren Park to make a report.

“We urge the public to adhere to the Covid-19 lockdown regulation­s

“People should respect curfew times, properly mask up, maintainin­g social distance, sanitise regularly and only travel when it is necessary,” Insp Chazovachi­i said.

He said police will continue maintainin­g heavy presence to enforce the lockdown regulation­s.
