Star FM calls for Listeners’ Choice Award entries
STAR FM Listeners’ Choice Awards 2021 organisers are calling on artistes to submit their works for the forthcoming awards.
The annual musical fete will be held online owing to Covid-19 restrictions.
In a statement, awards organisers said they were still calling for entries.
“The third edition of the Star FM Awards ceremony will take place on the 13th of March 2021 running under the theme #RespectTheHustle.
“In line with the Covid-19 restrictions, the 2021 awards ceremony will be a virtual production.”
The event organisers said they were determined to honour artistes despite all the challenges they faced in 2020.
“Despite all the gloom fears and desperate times that we have faced as a nation and the world at large, music has kept us entertained, encouraged and inspired.
“Musicians have proven that music is more than a source of livelihood, but a powerful vehicle of communication and entertainment.
“It is thus important for us to #RespectTheHustle as it is a hustle that provides hope and encouragement for many lives, as well as a source of livelihood for musicians and the music industry at large,” added part of Star FM statement.
With the build up to the event set to heighten, Star FM head of programming, Steve Vickers also explained their theme.
“Our hashtag is ‘RespectTheHustle’. It was a tough year, but so much good music was released and we saw artistes embracing the new normal through online shows and continuing to record music.
“We are thankful to our musicians for what they have done and continue to do in uplifting the nation in these challenging times,” Vickers said.
He said there will be 16 categories for this year’s awards and encouraged artistes to start submitting their music for consideration.
“All the winners will be decided by a public vote on our platforms. Artistes are allowed to enter their music from now up to February 18 on our website www.starfmmusicawards.co.zw
“The shortlisted entries will be published this month.”
He added that the awards are all about inspiring musicians, corporate world and fans to take music as a serious business.
