Snowy hails ZIMA nomination

- Tafadzwa Chigandiwa

BULAWAYO-BASED rising gospel artiste, Siphosenkosi “Snowy” Ncube has described his nomination for the Zimbabwe Music Awards as a milestone in his career.

He was nominated for Best Traditional Gospel Artiste category.

Snowy was nominated alongside contemporary gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, Kee Hove and Vusa Mangena for the awards slated for February20.

“To me, the nomination is a huge milestone that I never thought would happen so soon, but it really shows that I am doing good in my music career; getting to be recognised nationally.

“I started music in 2012, but the zeal was driven after I had watched Joyous Celebration performing at Queens Sports Club in August 2011, when they had come for our annual conference at church,” said Snowy.

He said the nomination has motivated him and he is now aiming higher.

“The nomination has taught me that nothing is impossible in life, God will always guide us through. I wasn’t expecting to be nominated at all, but God has opened a new door and I believe more doors will open.

“After ZIMA, we are aiming at international standards because music is for everyone and every tribe. I’m aiming at international platforms and awards,” he said.

A 2019 SkyzMetro award winner in the

Best Newcomer category, the upcoming gospel artiste also said he is positive he will bring the ZIMA award home.

“I know I am nominated with the giants of the industry (Mambo Dhuterere, Kee Hove and Vusa Mangena), but fingers crossed we are bringing the award. The song Uyisagila Sami has traditional qualities,” said the award winning gospel artiste.

Apart from being a gospel artiste, Ncube is in his final year at Hillside Teacher’s College where he is studying music.

Ncube started off with a single titled Dumisa in 2017 before releasing an album titled Hanya in 2018.

In December 2020, Ncube released his first DVD which was recorded in September 2019.
