MSIPA: IT’S A DREAM COME TRUE

MIGHTY WARRIORS and Black Rhinos striker Emmaculate Msipa’s dream of playing in Europe has finally come true as she is set to sign a one-yearcontra­ct with Spanish side, CF Joventut Almassora.

The 28-year-old midfielder has become the second local female footballer after Rutendo Makore to break into the European League.

She was scheduled to leave for Spain yesterday.

“Firstly, I just want to thank God for taking me this far. Moving to Europe is a new challenge for me, but it is also the embodiment of my long-standing dream, my goal,” Msipa told H-Metro.

“I will do my best and give everything I have to the team and hopefully by the grace of God I will be rewarded with many goals.

“I have always wanted to play in Europe and get to a new level. The transfer to CF Joventut Almassora for me is great. It’s a good step for me and the best opportunit­y to achieve something more,” she said.

Despite knowing that age is not on her side, Msipa remained hopeful that one day she will make it to Europe.

“You know when I passed 25 years I told myself that my chances of making it to Europe are very slim but my family kept on encouragin­g me and motivating me to keep on going.

“I came to a point where I realised age is just a number and also the bible says in Isaiah 60 vs 22 ‘When the time is right I, the Lord, will make it happen’ and also just look at how 2021 is, all the hardships but that’s when I get a break through.

“I never gave up on my dream, I kept on focusing on what I wanted and working hard to achieve it. Every time I train or play I always had that feeling that it will happen one day and also I wanted to make my family proud,” she says.

The utility player has been part of the Mighty Warriors since 2008 and last year she captained the team during the COSAFA

2020 Challenge.

Msipa has club, the some her paid tribute to her national team and coaches for giving a platform to shine. “I want to thank my club for the platform they gave me that saw me being selected into the national team where I have managed to be scouted. “They’ve given me the chance to fulfil my dream and play football in Europe. It is my goal to get integrated into the team as quickly as possible and give my best for the club. I am very pleased to be at CF Joventut Almassora,” she said.

She said she is going to work hard for every other girl child in Zimbabwe.

“I am going there to represent the girl child in Zimbabwe. I want to work hard so that the scouters know that there is talent in Zimbabwe.”
