‘I’M OFFICIALLY SINGLE‘

-

VERSATILE entertainer Baba Shupi — real name Peace Ndlovu — is now officially single and loving it, writes Trust Khosa.

The hyperactive entertainer was legally married to former manager and social worker Wadzanai Gumbo. The couple separated three years ago and their divorce was finalised recently.

Although it was a bitter pill to swallow for Baba Shupi, the Bhero singer said the divorce process drained him a lot such that he could not concentrate on his career.

“I’m officially single after finalising my divorce which really affected my career.

“I have been on separation for three years and it was a difficult period, but I also learnt a lot.

“I have since moved on and fully concentrating on my fifth album titled Trouble.

“I’m also in the process of recording my EP due for release soon, but I have been affected by the status quo,” he said.

Baba Shupi, who rose to prominence after featuring in Stunner’s hit song Godo,

said he was not spared by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has great affected us since I really survive on music alone; I’m a full time musician who has no other sources of income.

“We are, however, trying our best to make ends meet and the Lord has been providing for us during these trying times,” he said.

Once touted as a ladies’ man owing for his bias towards love songs and of course humour-laden lyrics, Baba Shupi shared his thoughts on this year’s Valentine’s Day.

“I won’t celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but I urge those in love to celebrate it in style and cherish one another on this special day,” he added.

Besides his forth-coming album, Baba Shupi boasts of four other polished albums; Tunonaka released in 2011,

Zvinonaka (2013), Dura

(2015) and Zviri Mumoyo

released in the year 2018.
