SUNDOWNS CLEARED FOR ALGERIA

- - Kick Off.

Mamelodi Sundowns have been cleared to travel to Algeria for their CAF Champions League match against CR Belouizdad next week Tuesday.

There were fears that Sundowns could face similar problems to Kaizer Chiefs after the latter failed to travel to Morocco last week to face Wydad Casablanca due to travel restrictions in that country.

The Brazilians are now set to jet out of the country for Algeria on Thursday soon after their DStv Premiership match against Baroka in Pretoria this evening.

Sundowns official Yogesh Singh has also thanked the South African embassy in Algeria for assistance in securing the visas for his team travel to Algiers tomorrow.

“Yah the visas are sorted, it was sorted out last week. It was a long process. We had the assistance of our embassy in Algiers,” Singh said.

“We communicated literally every single day for over two weeks until we got them over the line. The main thing is we got the required permission to fly and we got the visas for the team. We are flying on Thursday.”

Sundowns beat Al Hilal of Sudan 2-0 in their first game of the CAF Champions League group stage in Tshwane on Saturday

FC Platinum yesterday left for Senegal for the CAF Confederation qualifier, second leg against ASC Jaraaf.

This is a must win for Pure Platinum Play if they’re to qualify for the group stages.

Platinum lost 1-0 to the Senegalese giants at home on Sunday.

FC Platinum failed to utilize their chances including a 26th minute penalty by Silas Songani.

Albert Diene scored the only goal of the match in the 69th minute.

Gift Bello came closest in that remainder but his strike on the stroke of fulltime hit the post.

The Zimbabwe champions are playing in the tournament after they were relegated from the Champions League following their first round defeat to Simba SC.
