Musician brings System Tazvida back to life

- Edwin Nhukarume

NORTON based reggae artiste Shaneez has brought late sungura artiste System Tazvida back to life with his latest single Muroora.

Muroora was recorded at Mnandi Records and produced by Sly.

The 32-year-old said he grew up listening to System Tazvida as one of his best musicians because of his message. He has therefore remixed the song of his idol - Muroora - to honour him since he is now a singer.

“I felt that I should do a remix song for the musician I used to admire during my childhood.

“The original song, Muroora, itself had a message in it. It is a touching song.

“And now that I am a grown up and a singer, I decided to remix it as I was a big fan of System Tazvida growing up in the ghetto dancing to his tracks,” said Shaneez.

Shaneez is optimistic that the song will cause a stir in the local showbiz.

“It is a good song and I am positive it could be one of the songs people might find interesting and refreshing.

“I am expecting it to cause a shake in the music industry.

“The song is about a daughter-in-law not having a good engagement with her in-laws,” he said.

Shaneez started his music career at the age of 17 with a group called Harmonix. He then split from the group to form another group called TnT. He, however, went solo after TnT.

Some of the artistes Shaneez worked with are Cindy Munyavi and Maz Mop. He was also a close associate to the late Sam Mtukudzi in the music business.

He has one album to his name titled Tsvobidi.
