PROMOTERS, MUSICIANS MOURN JAH LOVE

- — Sun.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority They say a true artiste never dies, he stops giving live concerts.

Your music did what music does best . . . it brought people together. You may be gone now, but the melody of your music lingers on! Rest in peace Soul Jah Love - Soul Mukasa

***

Supa Mandiwanzira (underground music promoter/legislator) - RIP Zim dancehall music’s five-star general. Your death is a massive heist to the music industry. Big robbery. Go well entertainer.

***

Boss Werras (music promoter/businessman) - Rest in eternal peace king.

***

Benjamin Nyandoro (entertainment consultancy/events manager/businessman) - A very complex artiste to work with.

He was super intelligent, and it would take a strong point to get through him on decisions. We have lost a fine talent.

Soul Jah Love’s music spoke to many in their everyday life encounters.

He sang about things people could relate to. A champion of the ghetto youths’ plight. A mouthpiece of all the cries for an end to suffering.

***

Simbarashe “Bodyslam” Chakare (music promoter/events manager) - Rest in peace Chibaba, personally, I am heartbroken.

Yah iCovid-19 zvayo asi mukomana anga achida funeral (send-off) muma Zimbabwe Grounds chaimo.

***

Daniel Maposa (events manager/theatre practitioner) - Soul Jah Love was one of the most talented artistes of his generation.

His art was also unique, which set him apart from many. You could recognise his music immediately.

In the arts industry we need people who inspire the others. Soul inspired a whole generation. He also was an intergenerational artiste.

It’s rare to find such gems.

The lesson that should be derived from Soul Jah Love is one should pursue his or her talent and find the unique selling point in your area.

D-Nosh 2 Kings (businessman/music promoter)

- He was very entertaining, energetic and very talented as he pulled numbers during lives shows. We have lost a legend, our talent gone.

To fellow artistes, they must learn to sing from the heart and spread the message as how you feel.

Jah Prayzah (musician/entrepreneur) - Chibaba matisiya. I still cannot believe it, but who are we to reverse it. You always had a way to make everyone laugh, even when we least expected a joke from anyone, you would pull up.

This was just how talented you were, your name should be mentioned well up there amongst the greats as one of the most talented artistes Zimbabwe ever had.

I remember you asked me if we could do a song three different times and on all occasions my answer was the same: “Who in his right mind would not want to do a song with Soul Jah Love.”

You stood me up at the studio on all three occasions and somehow I don’t know how I still find that funny.

The last time we met you said “this time ndakuuya zvemashuwa.” There will be no replacement for you.

Rest in peace my brother, seems like the years were too short but, the music you gave us is enough to last a life time.

***

Winky D (musician) - Dear Sauro,

Since it is so, now in excruciating pain, our fate we should all acknowledge and embrace.

Since it is written and ought to be.

My grieving heart still rises in pain pride and gratitude at your contributions to the musical narrative.

Not recognising you in the Zim dancehall story shall remain a travesty.

You travelled all musical thorny paths.

Even more, you conquered in your distinct way. No musical heart ever conceived it dared to try your lyrical path.

We won’t take back the hope you have to the youths and we shall forever cherish the memories Rest in strong dancehall Riddims my Bredren.

I am in pain as I write this. I never met you in person. It was my wish to have a drink with you one day.

To me, you were and are still the greatest Zim dancehall artiste of all time.

Those close to me knew that it was my wish to have a duet with you one day. But denga ratonga.

The truth, however, is that you have not died, but you are resting in dancehall riddims. You have been immortalised through your music.

Who will forget such chants as Chibaba, Hauite Hauite, Chigunduru, Mind your hokoso, televhizhani tings .... haaaa apa Sauro wabiridzira

Emmanuel “Mannex” Motsi - I never managed or had the privilege to work with such a talented youngster as Soul Jah Love, but we bumped into each other a lot of times at major shows.

We shared the stage at the Glamis Arena Agricultural show, Aquatic Complex when I was backing Tony Rebel.

He was just amazing lyrically and I admired that about him.

Losing Soul Musaka is like losing a season full of plenty rains you can never get it again it’s gone.

The bumper harvest is gone.

Jah willing, his style might pop up, but the kinda way he entertained and touched your heart .... That... We can never regain

Rest In Eternal Power Soul SoulJah Love Musaka.

KYLIAN Mbappe is far better than both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were at the same age, his breathtaking Champions League record suggests.

The young PSG star stole the show from Barcelona icon Messi at the Nou Camp Tuesday night with a hat-trick in his side’s 4-1 demolition of the Spanish giants.

His treble took his overall tally in the competition to 24 goals in just 41 appearances, to go with his 16 assists.

At the same age of 22 years and 58 days, Messi had only managed 17 goals and seven assists from his 33 Champions League appearances for Barca.

As for Ronaldo, he was still waiting to get off the mark in Europe’s premier club competiton after making 26 appearances for Manchester United.

It would take him 30 games before he managed to find the net, eventually scoring two in the 7-1 thrashing of Roma in October 2007.

Mbappe, who now has 16 goals in all competitions this season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, still has some way to match their overall records though.

Ronaldo, 36, has an incredible 134 goals in the competition which he has won five times - and will be looking to add to that when Juventus play Porto tonight.

Messi, 33, is slightly behind his Portuguese rival on both goals and trophies, scoring 119 times and having a mere four Champions League winner’s medals to his name.

Despite their records and a collective 11 Ballons d’Or between them, BT pundit Joe Cole last night claimed Ronaldo and Messi are now behind Mbappe in the world’s greatest player stakes.
