Kadoma Covid-19 death rate high: report
THE City of Kadoma has the highest chances of Covid-19 deaths after infection, a Kadoma City Health Situational Report (Sitrep) has revealed.
The city now has recorded a cumulative 316 Covid-19 cases with 283 recoveries, four active cases and 29 deaths as of Wednesday.
No new cases or deaths were recorded at the time the report was released.
The city has a nine percent chance of death once one is infected, while Harare and Bulawayo stand at four percent apiece.
Mashonaland West is showing a six percent chance, while the country average comes in at four percent.
Health expert Dr Jonathan Matongo presented the breakdown from analysing global, national and provincial trends and is eager “to understand the possible risk factors or a study has to be carried out for that trend”.
City Health Director Dr Daniel Chirundu concurred: “Very correct, we need to wake up and investigate. What quickly comes to mind and needs answers is why are these people dying?
“Whether they are seeking care on time and if our case management is up to scratch.”
The report has it that most businesses operating in the city are compliant with pandemic protocol.
The report says that out of 55 businesses assessed for Covid-19 regulations compliance, only five were not satisfactory and had not renewed their 2021 licences.
Meanwhile, Sanyati District medical officer Dr Nobert Munosiyeyi revealed that as of February 16, his area of jurisdiction had accounted for 399 confirmed cases, 362 recoveries, 28 deaths and nine active cases.
