Katsande blasted for texting

-

KAIZER CHIEFS legend Rudolf Seale has slammed Willard Katsande for playing on his phone after being substituted against SuperSport United.

Following his solid performance for Amakhosi in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Matsatsansa, Katsande suffered a shoulder injury and was substituted in the 64th minute.

After he was substituted, the Zimbabwean veteran was seen busy on his phone while the remainder of the match played out.

Seale says former coach Phillipe Troussier would have dealt strongly with players who allowed such distractions during work hours.

“I thought it was totally wrong and unprofessional of him to do so,” Seale said.

“Yes he was substituted, but it doesn’t mean game over for him. We could concede or score a goal while his eyes are glued on the phone, and that needs a coaching point for the next game or games to come.”

“One might say there are repeats on TV to rely on, [but] the other question is, maybe not a goal but a move that needs a coaching point that the TV might not highlight as many times like a goal. It was wrong indeed.

“Even players who are not selected on the day should still remain focused like the bench players. What a coach says should still ring a bell to you. With due respect to Mr Hunt, how I miss

Troussier in this situation.

“At that moment, to be honest with you, [coaching us he] was a pain in the butt for most of us, especially seniors. He was hard on us so that we could be mirrored positively to the younger ones like [Thabo] Mooki, [Tshepo] Molatedi, and the [Phillip] Mabenas.

“I remember Neil [Tovey] received constant calls on his mobile while we were having prematch meals. He told Neil the way, this is not his office. If you look back as we do today, like it or not, he was right. One hundred percent focus is needed.” — Kick Off.
