Afro fusion singer Carlos “Paputo” Taraswa is riding well on his gospel song “Chikomo” playing on Trace Africa.

The 20-year-old earned the spot on the regional platform two months ago and is overwhelmed with the response.

“I am overwhelmed with my song ‘Chikomo’ playing on Trace Africa and Trace Gospel. The song has attracted positive feedback and I thank God for strides.

“It’s an achievement for me since I am still rising and the song was produced by BilBerry and Grey Beats of BilBerry Entertainment,” he said.

Paputo said he owes to his parents for supporting him.

“I thank God for everything and my parents for their unwavering support through financial assistance up to now they haven’t stopped.

“The journey hasn’t been easy and I remember my manager (my elder brother would sleep away from home at times trying by all means to make a dream come true.

“At times we would lose money in efforts to make a way and parents would always complain that we are wasting money.

“We would go to shows but could not get to the stage but we soldiered on. We are currently working on a single which is coming soon and after that my first titled ‘Famous’ will follow.

“Had it not been for my parents my father Boss Tarmac and mother Taraswa for their endless love and support,” he said.

Paputo also opened on how his journey has started and grew.

“I discovered my talent at a tender age of eight and since then my family have been very supportive.

“While at school I linked up with Michael Magz who is currently one of the producers I am working with.

“After I finished school I then pleaded with my parents to support my vision, before I recorded my first professional song Man for life at Mula Nation the song was produced by Bleq Boi.

“I later on recorded songs like ‘Baby Ndokuda’, ‘You are the one’, ‘My wish’, ‘Chipo’ among other songs,” he added.

Paputo later on enrolled with Zimbabwe College of Music.

“I went to Zimbabwe College of Music and whilst I was there I was privileged to perform with Mbeu which was a good experience.

“I also linked up with Garry Tight who later introduced me to Bilberry Entertainment.

“I started working with bilberry and we recorded quite a number of songs with ‘Gogoi’ prompting the release of Chikomo.

“I also got the opportunity to meet with DJ Tamuka of Mashroom Media and we did track ‘Tivake Musha’.

“Tamuka the introduced me to Rocklife Media who helped me shoot “Tivake Musha” (produced by Tamuka) and Promises (produced by Michael Magz),” he added.
