ANOTHER TWIST TO NYONI’S FUTURE

- Tafadzwa Chigandiwa

DESPITE surviving a horrific career threatening foot injury early this year, which could have ended his football career, Cape Umoya United forward Gabriel Nyoni’s future has once again taken another twist of tail.

The 28-year-old Nyoni, who is currently set to undergo an eight months rehabilitation process starting next month, woke up to the news that he might now deal with new bosses at his club.

Nyoni’s Cape Town bosses reportedly sold the Glad Africa Championship club’s status to a Limpopo based prominent businessman, Robson Ramaite. South Africa’s football magazine, Soccer Laduma reported that club shareholder Roger de Sa confirmed the new development.

Meanwhile, at the moment things remain uncertain for the Zimbabwean footballer, if he is still likely to undergo the process under the new supremo.

Fears comes after the speedster suffered a severe injury in February that left his doctor unaware if his patient (Nyoni) will be able to play football again in his life.

The injury resulted in broken bones to his right-foot before he underwent a surgery that saw him being inserted pins and wires to help him balance his leg.

However, the horrific situation did not move his former employers who kept on supporting him and were responsible for his surgery bills and check-ups to ensure that he recovers from his injury. In an interview, the former Caps United and Highlanders FC player, Nyoni neither agreed or denied this but said he has read about the news, though nothing has officially been communicated at the club.

Famously known as Granvia, the forward also said if that is the case, he still remains positive his new employers will continue being supportive towards his recovery.

“Yes, i read that my club has been sold; the news was all over the media, but i can assure you that the news is yet to be communicated to us. “Nonetheless it now means I’m now dealing with new bosses.

“I have not been playing football for months now as you know I’m battling an injury but I’m hopeful that the new club owners will understand the situation at hand and help me find my foot back to the field of play,” Nyoni said.

Apart from the medical support he got from the previous leadership, the speedy winger was also set to be offered a new role in form of a formal job at the club.

Former Umoya’s head coach, Roger de Sa had officially confirmed the news to kickoff.

Nyoni is a holder of a Marketing Degree, he studied and graduated from the National

University of Science and Technology

(NUST) in Bulawayo.
