SANYATI LOSES SCHOOLS CHIEF
THE death of Sanyati district schools inspector (DSI) Bernard Makamure has robbed the ministry of a dedicated educationist, a high ranking Government official has said.
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE) national spokesperson Taungana Ndoro confirmed the death when H-Metro sought comment on the passing on of DSI Makamure.
He was 59.
Spokesperson Ndoro said Makamure died after a short illness.
“The loss of our DSI has a huge impact on us as a Ministry. We lost a dedicated educationist. May the Makamure family find comfort in this time of their bereavement,” said Ndoro in his snap response.
Word from his close acquaintances is that DSI Makamure suffered and complained of chest pains for a while. A reliable source told this publication that he was transferred to a Gweru medical facility to access special attention which was not available in his home city of Kadoma.
The source said all did not go according to plan as the gentle giant breathed his last in the Midlands capital. Word of his death started doing rounds in the city of gold Sunday morning.
Sanyati district members expressed shock over the demise with one posting a touching message: “We were together at a workshop last week not knowing that the cloud of death was hovering somewhere around.”
Added another, “Our gentle giant is no more.”
A colleague who travelled for the burial said Bernard Makamure was buried at his rural home in Chivi communal lands on Tuesday with a sizable number of staff from his district at the funeral.
Covid-19 restrictions barred the huge numbers that would have wanted to travel for his burial.
