DZINGAI SHIFTS FOCUS

- Blessing Malinganiza

WARRIORS defender Jimmy Dzingai says their focus is now on their match against Malawi on Friday.

Zimbabwe yesterday played to a goalless draw against Mozambique in their opener of the Cosafa Cup.

“It was a good game where we had a game plan, unfortunately we couldn’t score.

“First games are tricky but it’s now water under the bridge, our focus is now on Friday game against Malawi.

“Our opponents also wanted to win, we could see by the way they responded by coming at us.

“But we tried to do our best by defending well. We defended very well and resolutely and opponents got frustrated and they missed the chances they got,” he said.

Dzingai said they need to work on their weaknesses going into the game.

“Yes it’s a point gained and we want to thank God for the point and we are happy with it.

“Going into the second match, we need to go back and work on our weaknesses that we saw.

“We want to be organized defensively and from the top we also need to take the game to the opponents.

“So those are the things we need to work on and also to fortify our strengths on the defence organization.

“And creating chances, we created a few but not good enough to win a match, we want to utilize the chances we get,” he said.

He added that they need to make sure that they leave a mark in Port Elizabeth.

“We will see how the tournament progresses but obviously we aim to complete and also leave a mark.

“Let’s see how the tournament develops but we take it game by game. So we are looking forward to play Namibia and we want to concentrate on getting a result.

“Then we will see how it shapes.”
