Shandirwa haunts CAPS

- Bruce Chikuni

YADAH rookie midfielder Tanaka Shandirwa believes he has the credentials to play in the top league after scoring in both legs of the Chibuku Super Cup against CAPS United.

Shandirwa was roped in by Yadah after failing to impress CAPS coach Darling Dodo in a twomonth long trial.

In an interview with H-Metro Sport yesterday, the 20-year-old was optimistic that there is more to expect from him.

“This is my first year of playing top-flight football, the demands are different from division one. I am happy with the way I have be adjusting. Everything is going according to the plan. It is not easy as one could have thought and I am grateful to the Almighty for making my breakthrough possible,” he said.

Shandirwa said they believe in collective work at Yadah.

“At Yadah we believe in collective effort, we play as a team and I want to give credit to my teammates for the respectable results we have been getting and also to the coach for having faith in me,” said Shandirwa.

Shandirwa has scored two goals, all against the Green Machine.

“It always feels great to score against CAPS. I am failing to understand why I have only scored against one team. It is happening naturally not that I come with extra energy to prove a point.

“Our goal is to progress to the next round of the tournament and it is always difficult to play with the underdog tag but I am happy that it has not affected us. We are not occupying a bad position on the log and I believe we can make it to the next round,” he said.
