MAN STEALS US$60K AT UZ FARM
A 26-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court on allegations of manhandling a security guard at Plot number 1, University of Zimbabwe Farm before getting away with US$60 000.
Chamunorwa Genge was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga charged with robbery.
According to the State, Genge was implicated by some of his accomplices Bruce Muparidzi and Godfrey Josi who were already remanded in custody.
He was advised to seek his bail at the High
Court with his routine remand deferred to August 2.
Prosecuting the State had it that on June 15th this year, Genge and other accomplices who are still at large Lazarus Chinobhururuka, Godfrey Josi, Peter Mushipe, Bruce Muparadzi, Themba Mugabe, Zvidozvashe Zuda, Richard Mutanga, Benjamin Musasa, Ephraim Alphas, Valentine Mutasa and one nicknamed Mambo Dhuterere.
The group whilst armed with pistols, iron bars and hammers proceeded to Plot number 1 Universi-ty of Zimbabwe Farm where they entered the compound and apprehended the security guard Christopher Chizhanga.
Further allegations are that the group demanded to see the complainant who is director of the farm whilst holding the security guard at gun point.
They force marched Chizhanga to where the director stayed before jumping into his room where they manhandled him again at gun point demanding cash.
After the confrontation, the group went away with US$60 000, two Huawei laptops, a 55mm Astra revolver serial number 6572v3 loaded with two rounds, 130 rounds of ammunition, a jaeger lecoul-tre Marter watch, Louis
Vuitton Pendant Chain Turquoise, bottega veneta wallet, Philips electric shaver, starbucks glasses, airpods pro and 300 Russian Rubbies.
The State in its papers claim they have overwhelming evidence implicating Genge and his accomplices.
Evidence include vivid CCTV footage showing how the suspects conducted the robbery, Genge’s call history and geographical local showing that he was at the scene on the day the robbery took place.
Total value of goods stolen has been estimated at US$85 000.
