ZPC back in contention

- Rest Mutore

ZPC KARIBA coach Godfrey Tamirepi has asked his boys to remain grounded after bouncing back to life in the Chibuku Super Cup with a 1-0 win over Yadah at the weekend.

ZPC (11 points) are back in contention for the remaining quarter final slot of Group One with Harare City (13 points).

Kauya Katuruturu now need to win their last match against CAPS United hoping Harare City, who are playing Dynamos, slip.

And speaking ahead of the match, Tamirepi said they need to go into the match without any pressure.

“Yes we are back in it. We are mathematically in but we don’t need to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure.

“We need to go into the match without any pressure, play our normal game but obviously aim for a positive result and see how the other game goes. It’s obvious we are praying for a Harare City slip for us to proceed,” said Tamirepi.

Tamirepi, however, admitted that it is easier said than done but that will not stop them from dreaming.

He said thinking of their rivals’ game going into this decisive week would be a big mistake.

“Like I said, we only need to think of what we have control over. CAPS have nothing to play for because they are out and that obviously makes our match difficult. What is needed is going into that match looking for a positive result and not focus on something that we don’t have control over.

“I will tell the boys to remain grounded and not think of the Harare City versus Dynamos match,” said Tamirepi.

ZPC Kariba have received a boost ahead of the match with the return of Collin Mujuru

(from injury) and

Samuel Makawa

(from suspension).

“We have a good pool going into this match.

Mujuru is back at training while Makawa who was suspended is back.

“They both missed the

Yadah game at the weekend and it is always a boost to go into such a crucial match with all players available,” he said.
