- Zvikomborero Parafini

A HARARE trio reportedly went on a robbing spree around Harare posing as public transport providers.

Elvis Kandemwa, Prosper Magomo and Isheunesu Magombo appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi yesterday.

The court heard that on October 7, the trio using their getaway vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, ferried the complainant, Loena Dembaremba from Dzivaresekwa to town.

While on their way, one of the three grabbed Dembaremba by the neck, tilted her head backwards and took her iPhone 11 while the other one who was seated on the front grabbed her bag and took US$17.

They then made her to disembark before they sped off.

On count two, the court heard that on the same day, Ngoni Mukosera was standing at a bus stop on Monavale Road intending to go to town and the trio stopped.

While they were on their way to town, they diverted the route and when Mukosera asked where they were taking him, one of the robbers said they wanted to drop something that was when he was slapped by one of the three while the other grabbed his neck, demanding all his belongings.

Mukosera tried to resist but one of the robbers produced a knife and stabbed him on the knees and he gave in and surrendered his two cellphones and US$270.

On count three, on the same day, the trio saw Nyarai Audrey Mukotsanjera waiting for transport along Rhodesville Avenue in Greendale and offered her a lift to town.

As they were on their way, one of the trio who was seated at the front pushed back his seat restraining Mukotsanjera while the other grabbed her neck and the other searched her handbag and stole her cell phone and US$5 before ordering her to disembark.

All the cellphones stolen were recovered.

Anesu Chirenje appeared for the State.
