TONDE DEMANDS RUTHLESSNESS

- Blessing Malinganiza

TONDERAI Ndiraya says he wants to see his Glamour Boys developing a more ruthless streak.

The Harare giants take on struggling Bulawayo City on Sunday at the National Sports Stadium.

“We have done a lot of work in that area and, hopefully, this week we can be very clinical in front of goal.

“We ended up being under so much pressure in Gweru after having created a lot of chances.

“We don’t want that in a match, you would want to take your chances and then, of course, manage the game and get a result.

“Whawha gave us a very good match and that’s what we are also expecting from Bulawayo City.

“It’s also a very difficult match in the sense that they have changed coaches.

“There is now a new coach and, normally, when that happens players tend to give their all because they would really want to prove to the new coach that they can play.”

The Glamour Boys are unbeaten in eight matches now and Ndiraya wants more.

“We have gone for eight matches now unbeaten,” he said.

“It is our wish to continue on that path, the Bulawayo City game is no different, we would want to get a result and, hopefully, we will get a good result.

“We have been good as a team across the board, that’s what is pleasing about us, the support has been tremendous from everyone and the mood is just good.

“We are also working very hard to guard against complacency.

“We know that when a team is winning you tend to have some elements within the team that become complacent.”

Ndiraya knows tougher examinations are on the way.

“There is still a long way to go, of course, we are approaching the halfway mark and our aim is to get to that point on top of the log.

“It’s not easy because of the upcoming fixtures. “So, we would want to take advantage of these home fixtures and get maximum points and ward off pressure from those that are following us.

“We have got a two-point cushion on Chicken Inn but that’s not much if you ask me. It’s one game and then everything changes.

“We want to keep our eyes on the ball, we want to continue to be consistent and make sure that we maintain the status that is there at the moment. “It’s very difficult but it can be done.”

The former Ngezi Platinum gaffer has heaped praise on Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Paga.

“Of course I am happy with the chances we are creating but not so happy about our finishing,” he said.

“Of course, I am happy with Paga, he has scored five goals in 10 matches but if we really want to fight for honours we must have consistency in terms of scoring.

“If you are a top striker, you have to be consistent and score in almost every game that you play. “It’s difficult but we want that consistency.

“If you look at the top scorers at the moment, they have got nine goals each, I think.

“Naturally we would want to have one of our strikers among the top scorers, then we would be in a good position.”
