Vaccination blitz begins
HARARE City Council has confirmed that the second round of Covid-19 vaccination blitz, at temporary static sites and schools, has started.
While the process started on May 2, and follows the wider vaccination blitz, which started on March 21, it will filter into schools from today.
“The second round of the Covid-19 vaccination blitz started on May 2 at static sites,” City of Harare spokesperson, Michael Chideme, said.
“Vaccination at temporary static sites and schools starts today. 183 vaccination teams are on the ground, 38 static, 67 temporary static and 78 mobile.”
Government aims to vaccinate 70 percent of the population by the end of July this year.
Meanwhile, the City’s Health Department is now conducting Covid-19 vaccination card QR code activation.
Government introduced vaccination cards with QR codes last year.
It is meant to prevent the duplication of vaccination cards by scammers, but until recently the cards were only being activated at the Ministry of Health and Child Care headquarters.
“City Council is now conducting Covid-19 vaccination card QR code activation and is informing the public to visit Wilkins Hospital, Townhouse, Mbare Polyclinic, Highfield Polyclinic, Rutsanana, Glen View Polyclinic, Glen View Satellite for the activation of the Covid-19 vaccination cards,” Chideme said.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care said, for the convenience of the public, it has begun the process of decentralising the activation process for travellers and will be releasing updated lists of activation points countrywide on a regular basis.
“Members of the public are advised to approach the Ministry of Health and Child Care offices or points for the activation of their cards,” MoHCC said.
