ZIMBABWE international forward. Admiral Muskwe, is preparing to try and help Luton Town clear one more hurdle for a place in the final battle dubbed the most lucrative match in world football.

Last year, the Championship Play-Off Final between Brentford City and Swansea was worth £170m, to the winning team.

“Promotion to the Premier League remains the most valuable prize in world football,” Tim Bridge, a director in Deloitte’s Sports Business Group, told the world media.

This year, Muskwe and his Luton Town teammates have a chance to have a crack in that match.

They have secured a place in the semi-finals of the play-offs and will take on Huddersfield.

Luton Town boss, Nathan Jones, has revealed he will be taking for nothing for granted in the play-off semi-final against Huddersfield Town, saying he was simply relieved to have seen his side tie up a top six finish in the first place.

The Hatters’ play-off hopes still hung in the balance going into the final day of the season with Middlesbrough and Millwall both capable on paper of edging ahead of them had they not taken victory.

But, in the end Luton claimed a 2-0 win over Reading while both Boro and Millwall lost.

Meanwhile, the Terriers’ 2-0 win over Bristol City meant they nudged ahead of Nottingham Forest to claim third place and set up a semi-final against sixth-placed Luton, with the first leg to be played at Kenilworth Road on Friday before the second leg takes place at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday.

Asked for his reaction to tying up that top six finish, Jones told Luton Today:

“It’s relief at the minute. Every time we get promoted, or we do something, it’s relief. I’m really pleased we didn’t rely on anyone else, lose the game and it be an anti-climax; we had to do it ourselves.

“It was a little bit more euphoric when we stayed up against Blackburn (in 2020), but today, I’m just so proud, so proud of the group. To get to 75 points which we predicted, it’s a wonderful Championship season.

“Success for us realistically is making sure that we don’t go out of the league, well we might have an opportunity to go out of the league, just at a different end.”

When Jones was asked on Luton’s YouTube channel for his thoughts on facing Huddersfield Town, he replied:

“We’d have taken anyone just to get in there, we wouldn’t have minded. We weren’t in a position where we could go ‘can we do this, can we do that’. We’re happy whichever one we’d faced - they’re both really tough games.

“Forest have been flying and in phenomenal form, so over two legs they’d have been tough, we haven’t beaten Huddersfield this season. So look, there’s so many permutations to think about, but what a wonderful prospect, especially Friday here at the Kenny under lights. We hope that god will turn the sun down a little bit quicker so we can get under the lights quickly.” -
