EPWORTH MAN BREAKS INTO POLICE STATIONS 14 TIMES

AN Epworth man is alleged to have broken into police stations 14 times.

He has appeared in court facing 14 counts of unlawful entry in various police stations in Harare.

Talent Karupira pleaded guilty when he appeared before Harare magistrate Shane Kubonera, who remanded him in custody, for sentencing.

The court heard that on January 17 this year, Stanely Chimoto, of Area E, ZRP Tomlinson Depot, and employed at ZRP PPU State Motorcade, placed an Acer laptop on the charger, and retired to bed.

At around midnight, Katupira, of Overspill in Epworth, opened a broken dining room window and gained entrance into the house, and stole the laptop.

At around 2am, Chimoto’s wife woke up to place her phone on the charger only to find that the laptop was missing.

The laptop was valued at $66 000.

During the same night Netsai Marufu, from the same camp, retired to bed leaving her Vodafone 1588 cell phone plugged on the charger in the dining room.

Katupira then broke into the dining room and stole the phone.

The phone was worth $23 000.

Aaron Nyoni, a police officer stationed at ZRP PGHQ Statistics, also lost his Vodafone 1588 cellphone to Katupira in the same fashion.

Nicodimus Nyamandi, who resides at Harare Central Prison, lost an Acer laptop, Iphone 7, Itel A37 cellphone, Itel A56 cellphone, which were on the charger, in the dining room.

Using the same modus operandi, Katupira also stole Themba Khumalo’s 32-inch plasma TV, HP laptop and a satchel.

Sibanda Sibekithem­ba lost a wallet containing US$300, $2000 and clothes while Trust Chiboyi lost an Acer Laptop and Itel A36 cellphone.

Thabhani Ndlovu lost a 32-inch Plasma television and an Itel A56, prison officer Gaudencia Mutamiri lost a Dell Laptop, Samsung A51 and a laptop bag containing US$300.

Samantha Chisina lost Itel P36, P37 cellphones, a Huawei cell phone and a laptop. Katupira was arrested on May 3 this year. Marian Furidze appeared for the State.
