Actor gets Nollywood invite but...
ZIMBABWEAN actor, Stephen “Doink” Matambo, has been invited by a Nigerian film stable, Trinity Film Company, to be part of three movies.
The 33-year-old said he was now in need of financial assistance to cover the travel costs.
“I applied at Trinity Film Company in Nigeria for a post of an actor and I was accepted after they watched some of my short videos Showreel.
“They replied and sent me an invitation letter with terms and conditions as an actor in Nigeria but the problem is that I don’t have money for transport and accommodation for the one month.
“I am expected to shoot three movies and I am looking forward to well-wishers, including the Government or Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, as well as private corporates to help me.
“I’m required to travel to Nigeria but money is a problem on my side, I need about US$1500,” he said.
Matambo began his acting career in 2003, after working with Child Vision Organisation, before moving to Marvel Arts Life in Chegutu.
“Things were tough growing up in Chegutu and in 2008 I left Zimbabwe for Mozambique where I tried acting but, unfortunately, I wasn’t good in Portuguese.
“I then decided to leave acting and concentrate on my studies.
“In 2016, I took part in auditions for Django and got a role there.
“That’s when I decided to take acting seriously because it was my passion.
“I will help to promote our Zimbabwe,” he added.
Matambo has featured in Styne TV’s My father-in-law, Muyedzo waSatan, Justice, a ZTV production, PaChitesh (ZTN production), Kuroorwa kwaChipo, a film by Charles Mutyavaviri and Men’s Ego, a film by Men’s Ego Safety Haven.
