Muza demands victory over struggling CAPS

- Bruce Chikuni

CHICKEN Inn marksman, Brian Muza, says there will be no excuses if they drop points against struggling CAPS United this weekend.

Joey Antipas’s men trail leaders Dynamos by two points in the championship race.

They have struggled to find the consistency which swept them to the lead, in the marathon, a few weeks ago.

Muza, 25, is just a goal behind the league’s joint leading scorers, Nyasha Chintuli and William Manondo, who have netted nine times. Muza has been making waves in his maiden campaign for the Gamecocks.

He has already scored against Dynamos, Highlanders, FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum Stars.

He was playing for ZIFA Southern Region Division One Soccer League side, Telen Vision, last season.

“I’m happy with the progress, it’s not about me as an individual but it’s about teamwork,” said Muza.

“Everyone is geared up for our game against CAPS

United, it’s a big fixture for us and we are going there targeting nothing but maximum points.

“I’m happy that I have been scoring, it’s my duty and I feel like I have to do more, for us to win the championship.

“We have to score as many goals as we can.” He welcomed the return of Clive Augusto insisting it will push him to do even better and work harder.

“Yes, Augusto is a top striker, I will learn a lot from him and I’m not even worried about his inclusion to the squad because it has strengthened our chances of winning the championship, that’s our objective,” he said.

“We believe in collective football and that alone gives everyone the room to play to the best of his abilities on the pitch.

“Our focus is on the weekend’s game, there are no excuses, we are eyeing a victory but it’s not going to be a walk in the park, we are going to try our best.”

Augusto told H-Metro that he will not be available for selection to face his former paymasters as his papers were still being processed.
