MUSICIAN COMPLAINS OVER ILL TREATMENT AT PARI

- Edwin Nhukarume

MUSICIAN Decide “Doubles WekwaMarange” Razerera has complained about alleged ill treatment at the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

Doubles said he was unhappy with the reluctance of a doctor to sign an affidavit he wants to use for an assault court case.

Circumstances are that on March 30, 2019, Doubles was attacked in Eastview by a group of thugs who severely assaulted him.

He sustained injuries all over his body.

He was treated at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

Since the case is in court, the musician has been seeking assistance for an affidavit signed by the doctor who treated him.

Doubles said his spirited efforts, since last year, have been in vain.

He said the doctor recently refused to attend to him because he had called on her mobile phone.

Head of Public Relations at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Linos Dhire, said patients were not allowed to call doctors on their private numbers.

Dhire said they tried to contact Doubles but he did not turn up for assistance.

“Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals does not provide cellphone numbers of its doctors for work-related issues and the hospital discourages its patients from calling doctors on their private numbers,” he said.

“Allowing patients to call our doctors on their private numbers compromises ethical conduct and credibility of our doctors, especially on legal issues like completion of affidavit forms.

“Private numbers of doctors can only be used by their private patients after the doctors willingly give their number to them.

“All Government patients, who want to communicate with our doctors, should do so through our official channels.

“This complainant was linked up with Dr (Sithengiso) Matshalaga by the Public Relations Office and an appointment was arranged for him but, unfortunately, he did not turn up.

“The matter was not exhausted and the patient can still come to the Public Relations Office for assistance.”

He also said Dr Matshalaga has an impressive record at the hospital.

“We have not received any other complaint about Dr Matshalaga’s conduct towards patients but we have received compliments about the good work she has done in our Accident and Emergency Department,” said Dhire.
