Are Simba becoming a mini CAPS Utd?

- Bruce Chikuni

THEIR owner, Simba Ndoro, is a CAPS United fan.

They also use the green-and-white colours associated with the Green Machine.

But, are Simba Bhora becoming a mini version of the Harare giants?

Their recruitment process appears to suggest just that. The Shamva side have just roped in Ronald “Rooney” Chitiyo into their ranks.

He is the eighth former CAPS United player on their books.

The others are Simbarashe Chinani, Honey Chimutimunzeve, Tafadzwa Jaravani, Nicholas Alfandika, Hardlife Zvirekwi, Webster Tafa and Tinashe Balakasi.

Chitiyo becomes the club’s third signing during the off-season break after they recently welcomed Chinani and veteran Raphael Manuvire. The season is scheduled to resume on June 4. “I’m happy that we have finally signed Chitiyo, he is someone who has seen it all,” said Simba Bhora coach, Arthur “Tuts” Tutani.

“I’m bothered by the headache which comes as a result of having big names in the team.

“Our objective is to win the championship, and anyone who shows determination to help us achieve our goal will play.

“I believe in hard work and that’s the only way we can achieve our goals.

“Chitiyo knows what is expected from a player of his calibre, we are not going to heap the pressure on him because we believe in collective effort and we are going to fight to get this club where it needs to be.”

Simba Bhora are enjoying life at the top of the Northern Region’s log with 36 points, just a point above the second-placed Golden Eagles.

The two sides are also slated for a date in the final of the Axis Solutions Super8 Cup.

The date of the final will be announced in due course. Balakasi is leading the Golden Boot race with 18 goals in 16 assignments.
