‘DON’T COMPARE ME WITH A FOOTBALL GOD’

For Munetsi, a defensive midfielder, to find himself going toe-to-toe with Messi, in terms of goals scored, is a remarkable feat for the Warriors star.
At one stage, during the season, the Stade Reims midfielder found himself with as many goals as the Argentine superstar.
Munetsi scored his fifth goal of the season at the weekend to help Stade Reims edge St-Etiene 2-1 at home.
Munetsi told H-Metro yesterday he did not believe he should be compared, in any way whatsoever, with a legend like Messi.
He said he still should just pick some priceless lessons from being in the company, and in the same league, as the Argentine superstar.
“Wow, I can’t comment much on that because he is someone whom I admire so much in football,” said Munetsi.
“He is one of the athletes who has made us enjoy and love football so, for me compared to him, I don’t know what to say.
“But, he is a legend and in a class of his own, and an inspiration to me.”
He added:
“I just want to end the season on a high note and we needed to collect maximum points in the remaining game.
“At the end of the day, it’s not about me but team effort. “Everyone had a part to play to earn the ultimate goal, which was to win the game, and we are all happy.”
The Warriors star has revealed his plans during the off-season break. “I will spend the day with my family, nothing much,” he said.
“Maybe, visit some places but the priority on my list is my family.
“I will get to spend some time with them and enjoy some family time together.
“I will also be preparing myself physically and mentally for the new season.”
He said all his goals were special.
“I’m happy I scored again in one of the last games of the season, it was a solid performance from the team and a great victory for us.
“I’m more excited that we managed to collect maximum points in this game.
“Yeah, scoring in any game is fun, it makes me happy to score and that’s the plan. I wish to do that in every game I play.
“I’m happy that I’m scoring in my position and it’s something that is also a bonus and it gets me excited,” he said.
