PROPHETESS TURNS HOUSE INTO MATERNITY HOME
A NUMBER of expecting mothers and those struggling to conceive have now turned to a self-styled prophetess in Harare.
Many claim they had endured sexual abuse at the hands of the prophets who duped them with offers for help.
Pretty Nyamukondiwa (60), fondly known as Gogo Mukubvu, has turned her Budiriro house into a maternity home and shrine.
One of her clients told H-Metro she was almost raped while receiving prayers from a self-styled prophet.
“Marriage is unbearable when you fail to conceive,” she said, while speaking on condition of anonymity.
“You might be discouraged from consulting these prophets, but challenges eventually force you to do so.
“I nearly got raped while receiving prayers from one of these prophets.
“He gave me false prophecies that my husband was the one with evil spirits which made it difficult for me to conceive.
“His solution to my problem, was to have sexual intercourse with me and this opened my eyes and I avoided him.
“I learnt about Gogo Mukubvu and decided to seek her services and avoid male prophets.
“I do not fellowship with her, but I had to buy white cloths in order to gain access to her.”
Gogo Mukubvu, a widowed mother of five, told H-Metro she was yet to engage medical officials for support.
“My church elders and children have been supporting me with materials to use when attending to the mothers,” she said.
“A number of my clients are not our church members, but are people referred to me by those who came here for prayers.
“Some of the residents are against me and I am yet to engage health officials about helping mothers,” said Gogo Mukubvu.
