Gogo Mukubvu helps women free of charge
Having children is almost every couple’s heartfelt desire. Sadly, things at times do not work out that way.
Many couples that are struggling to start families, have been turning to Gogo Mukubvu of Budiriro.
It is 6am and hordes of people, from all over Zimbabwe, are already queuing at her house.
They are waiting for the prophetess-cum-midwife to attend to them.
She is 60 now.
Born Pretty Nyamukondiwa, the widowed mother of five has dedicated her life to helping women who struggle to conceive.
One of those women told H-Metro that she has been trying for a dozen years.
“I have been married for 12 years, but I have no child yet,” said the woman, who said she only wanted to give out her first name, Nancy.
“We have visited different gynaecologists who continued to tell us that everything was okay with us.
“At one point, my gynaecologist told me to try traditional herbs or seek divine help, that’s why I came here.
“I started visiting Gogo’s place in January. “We held many prayers and I got pregnant in February.”
Nancy’s story is not the only testimony. “I had many miscarriages but since I started visiting this place, I have a one-yearold son,” said Mrs Hama.
Gogo Mukubvu doesn’t want any payment in return for her services.
“Gloves and other necessities are provided by patients, who willingly provide them but, sometimes, my children provide them,” Gogo Mukubvu said.
“It came as a dream that I should help people freely.
“I was then certified both as a prophet and midwife during the ‘80s.”
She referred two of her patients to hospital. “I referred and accompanied two people to hospital after they experienced still births,” she said.
Gogo Mukubvu said she always urges her patients to believe in the power of prayer.
