Ban these ‘prophets of murder’

-

MURDERS are increasingly becoming an everyday occurrence in our country, with most of them fuelled by ritual killings.

Some murders are also due to witchcraft accusations. They, however, all have a common denominator to them — prophets and sangomas.

These prophets and sangomas cause people that consult them to commit these heinous acts by falsely accusing relatives of witchcraft or using juju.

In yesterday’s edition of H-Metro, we carried a story about two brothers who bashed their own father to death accusing him of causing the deaths of their brother and sister after consulting a sangoma.

What is even more disgusting is that they severely assaulted their father to death in the presence of their mother.

Although the two brothers were arrested, their barbaric act will haunt their mother until death.

Recently, ex-CID detective, Jaison Muvhevhi, went on a killing spree after his mother relayed to him a prophecy about him from her apostolic church madzibaba that he used juju to obtain his riches.

Enraged by this prophecy, Muvhevhi armed himself with a riffle and went to the church shrine in Wedza where he shot and killed the madzibaba from point blank range.

He then shot and killed the officer in charge of Wedza Police Station and a barman on the same day before going on the run until his arrest on the Mozambican side of the border.

Ritual killings are also on the rise, with the root cause being the love for self-enrichment.

The case of Tapuwa Makore who was slain by his relatives comes to mind. After murdering him, the relatives severed his head, and cut his body parts into small pieces. They were bust by the police before they could sell the body parts.

Does this mean our people are increasingly becoming desperate looking for easy methods of self-enrichment at the expense of their loved ones? Are we living in the last days where the love of many has waxed cold like the good old book says?

Something is definitely wrong with society when your killers share the same DNA with you and live under your roof.

Where are people’s body parts being sold, and who are the buyers? These prophets and sangomas must be rounded up for causing gruesome murders.

Law enforcement agents must hunt for and shut down this business which feeds on human body parts.

Prophets are supposed to be people who receive a divine message and pass it onto other human beings on behalf of a deity.

So why is it that our so-called prophets always speak about prosperity and nothing biblical?

They are just after money, but it should not be at the cost of people’s lives.

Its high time these prophets are banned before they turn families into war zones.

What is even more worrying is that teenagers are also approaching these prophets, who don’t have any standard operating procedure.
