It’s now Dynamo DeFiyo

- Bruce Chikuni

INSTEAD of pushing for a return to their traditional fortress, Rufaro Stadium in Mbare, Dynamos should maybe just consider Gwanzura Stadium in Highfield as the venue to restore their waning glory.

The Glamour Boys currently have seven players who hail from Highfield, popularly known as Fiyo.

Denver Mukamba, skipper Frank Makarati, Issa Sadiki, Jayden Barake, Donald

“Kante” Mudadi, Tanaka “Kante” Shandirwa and Vusumuzi Ngwenya all come from Highfield.

Even the club’s developmental side coach, Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigove is also from Highfield and perhaps Dynamos should ditch the name DeMbare in favour of DeFiyo.

Some believe that coach, Herbert Maruwa’s future lies in the hands of his Highfield recruits.

With the majority of players coming from

Fiyo, it’s not surprising that Makarati has been given the armband.

Mukamba also carries the hopes of Dynamos fanatics to challenge for the league title this season.

Another interesting area of attention will be in the midfield where there is Mudadi and Shandirwa, who both answer to the nickname Kante.

Barake is also expected to make an instant impact considering the potential he exhibited at Whawha last season.

This campaign will also present Issa Sadiki with a perfect chance to walk out of the shadows of his brother, Ali.

Issa was blowing hot and cold last season, and some attributed his inconsistency to lack of game time, but the introduction of Maruwa and his assistant, Genesis Mangombe, is expected to breathe life into his career. Ngwenya was promoted from the club’s developmental side.
