Give us a bit of time, pleads Ndiraya

- Bruce Chikuni

TONDERAI Ndiraya feels it will take a bit of time for Simba Bhora to become a solid team.

The miners will host high-flying Bulawayo Chiefs this afternoon at the National Sports Stadium.

Simba Bhora are winless in their previous four fixtures and last scored a goal through Blessing Moyo, from the spot, in a 1-1 draw against Sheasham at Mandava.

It means Ndiraya’s men have failed to score in more than 360 minutes of action in open play.

They have racked nine points in nine fixtures, which translates to a point in every assignment.

Ndiraya admitted that they have experienced players in their camp but insisted that the team is never built in one season.

“I think one thing which is important for people to understand is that a team is never built in one season.

“Of course, we brought in eight or nine experienced players but if you ask me they are not a team yet because we have some of the players in this team who were playing in the lower league last season.

“We had about three boys who played their first match at Barbourfields last weekend and you could see the excitement in them.”

He said his worry is that they might find themselves at the basement if they take time to become a solid team.

“We showed people that we are still learning, we are not a team yet and it takes time to become a team.

“We are trying to bring these players together and hoping that we will become a team as the season progresses.

“And, hopefully by that time we will be away from relegation, our fear is if that doesn’t happen quickly we might fail to recover.”

He added:

“Some people see us as a strong team but I think we are just strong on paper but in terms of being a team, we are still very much behind.

“But, I can see the progress even in the matches that we have lost and our draw against Highlanders will probably inject an element of belief.

“Our management are doing everything possible for us to start playing at Wadzanai and we are having to play at the National Sports Stadium and, in some instances, we are playing during the midweek when other teams are playing at weekends.

“We have not been getting enough recovery time to play our matches inour best physical condition.”
