‘LET’S CELEBRATE OUR CULTURE’

- Arron Nyamayaro

TELEVISION personality Lee Ann Bernard says she will always derive a lot of pride from being Zimbabwean, in particular, and African in general.

She said African culture should be celebrated.

Lee Ann said having our own national dress, as Zimbabweans, has brought joy to her and that’s why she promotes the country’s culture.

“Seeing is believing and it makes it easier to sell our brand through hospitality resorts that are in our country.

“We are the first tourists before selling the brand abroad.

“We as Zimbabweans should explore the wonders of our land and we will be able to attract tourists from outside Zimbabwe.

“Let’s embrace our cultural beliefs as well as traditional foods. We are who we are through how we present ourselves. “

She said home will always be the best for her.

“It’s essential to embrace our culture and celebrate our heritage, not only for personal reasons, but also to promote our country’s brand and attract tourists.

“We should unite and appreciate our differences, as diversity makes our society richer.

“Tell a friend to tell a friend that Zimbabwe will forever be our home.”

She also narrated the history of clothes.

“The first clothes were made from natural elements like animal skin and furs, grass and leaves, bones and shells.

“Clothing was often draped or tied, however, simple needles made out of animal bone provide evidence of sewn leather and fur garments from at least 30 000 years ago.

“Whether intentional or not, the way that you dress can send a message to others about how you view yourself and how you want to be seen.

“Hence, it is important to belong to a particular culture through fabric.”
