A GUIDE FOR THE 2024 TO 2025 RENEWAL PERIOD TO ALL NIGHT CLUB LIQOUR LICENCE HOLDERS
MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR NIGHT CLUB PREMISES
NIGHT CLUB LIQOUR LICENCE
1. The night club must have a total floor area of at least 40sq meters.
2. Artist performance stage is allowable only to those establishments approved for live performances.
3. The building must be fully sound proofed for all establishments within residential areas.
4. Entrance to have double doors of minimum width of 1,4m (opening outwards).
5. Air conditioning or forced draught ventilation to be operational to ensure adequate air changes.
6. Illuminated fire escape signs to be displayed at all times when public is admitted to the building.
7. A minimum of 2 water closets for each sex and at least three urinal bowels or three-meter-long urinal must be provided.
8. Adequate storage for liquor stocks and empties must be at least 10 square meters in size or may be outside the premises in some form of enclosure which must be roofed.
9. The provision of a bar is permitted and where this is established a liquor servery may not be necessary.
10. Where a bar as such is not permitted, a server for the dispensing of liquor by waiter service through a hatchway shall be provided.
11. Where the bar wash-up is not an integral part of the bar, a wash hand basin with a tiled splash-back and piped water must be provided.
12. The counter top and the shelves for the storage of glasses to have a smooth impervious finish.
13. Metal receptacles for bottle tops and metal trays to reduce spillage should be provided behind the counter.
14. Ventilation and Lighting for Those Premises not Within Residential Areas, e.g. Industrial Areas, C. B. D. Adequate means of through ventilation, forced draught ventilation, to be provided. Air conditioning is optional.
15. Adequate fire-fighting appliances, in general accordance with the Local Authority’s requirements, to be installed and maintained in good working
order.
16. Adequate fire-escape facilities, indicated by prominent notices to be provided and maintained in safe order. 20.All to be to the local authority’s requirements.
Insurance Adequate insurance to be force against legal liability for, Loss or damage to guests’ property; and Injury, accident or illness caused to persons not in the employ of the establishment.
17. Adequate artists change rooms, separate for each sex, with wash hand basin supplied with piped water, a couch/ chair/ stool and full-length mirror. Toilet facilities, one for each sex.
18. Kitchen floor area to be not less than 20 square metres and not less than one third of the dining room area.
19. Kitchen Floors to be of approved impervious material, suitable graded and drained to an outside gully and all corners, edges and junction with walls to be rounded or coved.
20. Walls to be tiled to a height of at least 2 metres or to have other approved impervious finish
21. Kitchen Ceiling to be of a dust proof and weather proof material and painted with a light-coloured washable paint, minimum floor to ceiling height to be 2,8 metres.
22. (Kitchen) All furniture and shelving to be of stainless steel or other approved impervious material: wooden furniture and shelving is prohibited.
23. (Kitchen) Hot air and fumes to be removed by a canopy with extractor fan or by other approved means.
24. (Kitchen) Separate hand washing facilities for staff to be provided at the kitchen. Disposable towels, soap and scrubbing brushes to be provided at this point.
25. (Kitchen) A separate and adequate sink to be provided exclusively for food preparations.
26. (Kitchen) At least two sinks or a dish-washing machine and (b) separate potwashing facilities to be provided.
