Rogue dad deserves his time in jail H-METRO
THE rogue dad and his partner, who were jailed for 12 months for abusing two minors, deserve every year they will spend behind bars.
It’s hard to believe the pair locked the two children indoors for long hours without food and water.
At the age of four and one respectively, the children’s lives were in danger.
We should thank the whistleblower who ensured that this man and his partner were arrested.
Without him we might have faced a worst case scenario.
We would probably be talking about the death of two innocent kids who became victims of their dad’s stupidity and cruelty.
The two kids had been taken away from their mother by the man as a way of evading paying maintenance.
Harare magistrate Tsitsi Chitatu sent the duo to spend 12 years in jail.
However, our readers insist the pair deserves further punishment for putting the lives of these children at risk.
The trauma, which was experienced by the children, should never be underestimated.
It will take a long time for them to heal as they were subjected to things they should never have faced in their youthful years.
In the Bible, children are considered a gift from God, and they should be treasured all the time.
Children should have the right to food and protection against all forms of abuse.
However, this was not the case in this scenario where they were reduced to captives.
To imagine this was done by their biological father, it’s something that is hard to imagine let alone try and understand.
Predictably, the two kids were found in bad shape and taken for medicals, which nailed the rogue dad and his partner as monsters.
There is no room whatsoever for our kids to suffer at the hands of their parents.
Ruthless parents should lose custody of their children to the Social Welfare Department or other capable people.
We can’t afford to let our children be abused by greedy and cruel monsters.
The only thing to celebrate in this case is that the kids are still alive.
The conviction of the evil couple should serve as a warning to fellow parents abusing stepchildren that it’s a punishable offence.
Such cases should be brought into the spotlight to ensure that we save lives.
This level of abuse should not be allowed to continue happening.
Parents should never be reminded of their responsibility since they have a role to protect their children.
On the other hand, cruelty does not pay.
Children’s welfare can only be changed if we prioritise them the most.
This is all that we are hoping for to happen to make the world a better place to be.
As the people’s paper, we shall continue to expose evil parents and whip such rogue people into line.
It’s never too late for misguided parents/guardians to repent and change their evil way of doing things.
We should always treasure our children and put them first.
Good parents/guardians will always invest in the future of their children.
Child abuse should stop and culprits should be arrested.
