POLICE AFTER MONSTER WHO RAPED SEVERAL JUVENILES IN GLEN VIEW

- Arron Nyamayaro

A MAN transformed himself into a monster in Glen View and raped several juveniles by attacking them when they were sleeping after climbing into their rooms through windows.

Police are now looking for this man. The Officer Commanding Harare Province, Commissioner Wonder Tembo, has called on parents to be the advocates for their children, ensuring that their voices are heard and their stories are believed in cases of gender-based violence.

He made the remarks while addressing police officers carrying out awareness campaigns against GBV as part of the 16 Days of Activism against GBV.

He revealed that Harare Province witnessed a rise in domestic violence cases.

“In November alone, we recorded 819 cases compared to 698 in the same period last year.

“We implore community organisations, social services, and other stakeholders to collaborate with us in providing a safe haven for victims and holding the perpetrators accountable.

“Harare province has many unresolved cases of domestic violence, murder, human trafficking, child marriages, child and drug abuse, rape and other sexually related abuses like indecent assault and exposure, whose offenders are mostly on the run.”

He added:

“Children deserve to grow up in an environment free from harm, where their rights are protected and their well-being is paramount.

“Domestic violence is another dark reality that we must confront.

“This crime often occurs behind closed doors and affects individuals of all genders and ages.

“It destroys homes, shatters families and perpetuates a cycle of abuse that must be broken,” said Comm Tembo.

The police are also part of a regional operation, code-named BASADI, which aims to combat rape, domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking.
